Adela Cortez, Director of Human Resources
Joined the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in May of 2017, after working for five (5) years with the Harris County Budget Management Human Resources & Risk Management Office and for fifteen (15) for California State University Human Resources Department. Adela comes to HCSO with 20 years of expertise in Human Resources along with Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Public Administration.
Under her direction, the Human Resources Division (HRD) is responsible for provision of quality, efficient and proactive human resources (HR) services and the development of HR processes, procedures and guidelines to enable the Harris County Sheriff’s Office attract, motivate, develop and retain a competent and competitive workforce so that they may adapt well to change and cope with increasing demands from the changing internal and external environments.
The staff in the Human Resources Division is committed to providing prompt, courteous, and quality customer service to our employees. Our goal is to continually look for new and innovative ways to improve our processes and service delivery. We are available to assist in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations; Staff Training and Development; Performance Management, Compensation and Benefits Administration.
