New:Join us April 22 for #MissingInHC Day — it’s important to bring information with you to be used to enter or update information in the missing person’s databases. Including: * Photos of the missing person – helpful photos include the person photographed with any identifying features, such as tattoos or birthmarks, or personal items, such as favorite earrings * Two of the missing person’s closely related family members from the mother’s side for the collection of DNA for identification purposes * Photo identification of those wishing to submit family reference DNA * X-rays, dental or medical records, police reports or other identifying documents from the missing person that can be scanned and placed on file. HARRIS COUNTY, TX – We are proud to announce that the Harris County Jail has passed an unannounced inspection from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. Since its inception in 1975, the Texas Commission on Jails Standards (TCJS) has overseen the inspection of county jail facilities throughout the State of Texas. Inspections are conducted at random without prior notification to the host agency. The unannounced inspection commenced May 6, 2016, and has certified the Harris County Jail’s compliance with State standards. For full details, this message on the web.

As a local government agency, employing more than fifty (50) persons and having received at least one single grant award of $500,000.00 or greater from the U.S. Department of Justice, subject to the authority of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is required to submit a biennial Equal Employment Opportunity Plan Utilization Report to the Office for Civil Rights, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice.

An Equal Employment Opportunity Plan (EEOP) Utilization Report is a comprehensive document that analyzes a recipient's relevant labor market data, as well as the recipient's employment practices, to identify possible barriers to the participation of women and minorities in all levels of a recipient's workforce. Its purpose is to ensure the opportunity for full and equal participation of men and women in the workplace, regardless of race, color, or national origin.
