Major Eleanor Jones
Eleanor Jones began her career with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in August of 1989 as a Detention Officer. She attended the Harris County Sheriff’s Academy and is a member of the graduate class of B390.
As a Peace Officer Major Jones successfully completed tours of duty in the housing division, inmate affairs, narcotics, patrol and homicide. In October of 2003, Major Jones promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a sergeant, Major Jones served as a first line supervisor in housing, Inmate Processing Center, Inmate Records, Communication, Child Abuse, Auto Theft and Internal Affairs.
In June of 2012 Major Jones promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, Major Jones served as the Assistant Division Commander in Housing, Inmate Records, and in the property crimes section of the General Investigation’s Division. In September of 2015 Major Jones successfully positioned herself to be promoted to the rank of Captain.
In January of 2017 Major Jones was appointed Major and currently is serving as a member of the Sheriff’s Command Staff. Major Jones is currently the Commander of the Communications and Technology Bureau.
Major Jones holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate and is a graduate of the 258th Session of the FBI National Academy. Major Jones is an active member of the FBI NA Association. Major Jones and her husband Wallace have three children, Jasmine an HR Specialist, Eboney an RN and Wallace III, (Tre’) a high school junior.
About the Communications And Technology Bureau
The Communications and Technology Bureau sustains the strategic operations of the Sheriff’s Office by researching, implementing and maintaining mission critical telecommunications, enterprise level databases and modern-day hardware. The Communications and Technology Bureau is comprised of the Communications Division, Information Technology Division and Strategic Research and Developments Unit.
The mission of the Communications and Technology Bureau is to ensure information is effectively communicated for safe and efficient service to the community and to properly manage the infrastructure of the department for continuous and effective service.
