Major Tony Huynh
Major Tony Huynh is a first generation immigrant from Vietnam who came to the United States when he was nine years old. He joined the United States Marine Corp Reserves and proudly served for eight years after graduating from high school. He was meritoriously promoted two times while serving in the Marine Corps.
Major Huynh obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University and a Master of Science Degree in Criminology from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. He honorably served the citizens of Houston for over twenty-two years as a member of the Houston Police Department. He was a Hostage Negotiator for twelve of those years.
Major Huynh patrolled the streets of Houston as a Gang Task Force Officer before transferring to the Homicide Division as an investigator. He promoted to Sergeant and continued to work as an investigator in Homicide Division before transferring to the Major Offenders Division - Asian Organized Crime Task Force with the FBI. He then promoted to Lieutenant and came back to the Homicide Division as a squad commander. Major Huynh was slated to be promoted to Captain when he retired to join the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Major Huynh is a proud graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, 262nd Session.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) is a multi-task orientated unit of highly trained and experienced criminal investigators. CIB’s core values are to Identify Crime, Solve Crime, and Obtain Convictions that enhances the quality of life for the citizens of Harris County and the community we represent.
Our mission is to support the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and other Harris County law enforcement agencies by conducting timely and thorough criminal investigations. CIB is dedicated to providing superior investigative services using advanced investigative techniques, forensic science and forensic equipment in order to preserve the quality of life within our community and those we represent.
CIB investigates all criminal allegations from misdemeanor to felony, from person crimes to property crimes. Investigators will search out and collect all available evidence surrounding each case, along with supporting facts to clear the innocent and substantiate the culpability of the guilty, motivated only by a search for the truth. CIB Investigators recognize their responsibilities to the community we serve and are committed to investigating all criminal allegations in an ethical and impartial manner with sensitivity toward the needs of victims and witnesses.
In our pursuit of solving crimes, investigators work in collaboration with the public in sharing information that leads to the investigation of criminal activity; along with local, state, and federal agencies, thereby enhancing our professional partnerships.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau additionally utilizes undercover investigators to proactively identify, investigate, disrupt and dismantle criminal activity. Units conduct proactive operations pertaining to vice and drug crimes, human trafficking crimes and vehicle thefts and burglaries.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau is also responsible for departmental employment.
