Major Greg Summerlin
Major Greg Summerlin has approximately 27 years of detention-oriented job experience within the Harris County Sheriff’s Office with over 23 of those years as a supervisor. Summerlin has successfully managed large, dynamic operations within the HCSO, to include Jail Housing operations and the Inmate Processing Division. In addition, Summerlin has extensive experience working on multi-million dollar projects planned to significantly improve and modernize future operations throughout the HCSO Detention Command.
These major projects include the on-going Jail Management System (JMS) software project, the new Joint Processing Center (JPC) project, and the attorney/client Video Visitation project. Command of the Justice Management Bureau requires close collaboration between the Sheriff’s Office, the Houston Police Department, Houston Municipal Courts, numerous County government departments (e.g. Budget Management, Public Infrastructure, Central Technology Services, Pre-trial Services, the District Clerk’s Office, the County Judge’s Office, etc.), state regulatory agencies, as well as with project architects, consultants, contractors and vendors.
Major Summerlin has been married for 22 years, with 3 daughters and 2 grandsons. Off duty Summerlin enjoys fishing and spending time with the grandchildren.

The mission of the Justice Management Bureau is to provide the safe, secure and efficient processing of prisoners in a humane manner, to deliver professional services related to prisoner processing and to provide a safe and secure environment for the downtown courthouses.
